Sanjay Leela Bhansali compensates dead painter’s family Rs 21 lakh
Not very long ago, a painter who was working on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali ‘Padmavati’, lost his life in an unfortunate accident. Mukesh Dhakiya (34) fell from a height of 5 ft. on his head. He was declared dead after being rushed to Lilavati Hospital. Soon after that, Gangeshwar Shrivastava, General Secretary of Film Workers’ Union, demanded adequate compensation from the filmmaker. He as well asked the safety measures on the set to be scrutinised thoroughly.
Agreeing to the demand, Bhansali will now donate Rs 21 lakh to Dhakiya’s family. The late artiste’s colleagues also came forward to help and will donate their one day’s salary to Dhakiya family. The amount comes to Rs 2.2 lakh approximately.
“Nothing can compensate my brother’s loss, but we are glad that Bhansali ji kept his promise. At least, the future of his two sons has been secured. We are thankful to the union for pursuing this with the production house,” said Sunil Dhakiya, Mukesh’s younger brother.
Mukesh is survived by his wife who is four-months pregnant, and two sons. The wife has been promised a job from the production house as well.
